I’m sitting at the only Internet computer in the town of Jakar in Bhutan. I was hoping to bring you a few pictures from the first week of my Bhutanese jaunt, not least because I’m excited about how they’re turning out. The Bhutanese people are the friendliest, the scenery is wonderful and the photo opportunities are boundless. I don’t remember ever filling up memory cards quite as quickly as I am here.
Unfortunately, the internet connection won’t cope with even a few small JPEGs and there are a queue of smiling children waiting outside to be photographed so this will have to suffice for now but I hope to get some images up in about a week’s time and I hope you’ll agree that it was worth the wait.
Cheers!
—UPDATE—
A speed surge on the dial-up line enabled me to upload this two little teasers:
Teasers indeed!
An excellent couple of shots, Gav.
I look forward to seeing the rest.
Quite a party! Good to see these. Really looking forward to the rest!!
I have been checking your blog since you left for Bhutan and the teaser images are absolutely stunning. Love it…. Would you mind sharing the EXIF data? If not it’s okay. Looking forward for more Bhutan images and maybe I can get on this expedition next year. Chao from Saigon…
Beautiful images with such wonderful colours and textures .. I can’t wait to see the full set!
Very nice, I look forward to seeing more….
Beautiful work Gavin.

I’m a great fan of yours…..WOW, great photos. I’m excited to see the rest!
Gavin, Been missing your posts. I agree with everyone else, great shots. Can’t wait for more. Have a great trip.
Good stuff, mate. Can’t wait to see what you churn out here in KTM – see you in a week.
Oh man, that avatar isn’t me at all. How come Heath and Peter get all teethy-meany avatars and I get a wimpy purple triangle with glasses? And furthermore, am I now stuck with this avatar FOREVER?
This is not good…
Aaah! I AM stuck with it!
See you soon, Gavin. I’ll be the purple triangle with glasses, you can’t miss me…
he he he… I’ll exchange the avitar with David. That avitar look nerdie, match me very closely….
I wasn`t that pleased with my one-eyed, shark-toothed avitar either! Still, I can live with it if that`s what one has to do in order to be able to comment on Gav`s images. In any case, truth to tell, it`s probably slightly better than the real thing!
I’m sorry about the avatars, they’re based on scientific examination of your comments and designed to accurately reflect your personality.
Not at all random.
Probably.
I’m back in Paro for my final night in Bhutan before returning to Bangkok tomorrow. The final week here has yielded even more photos that I’m pleased with and I’m looking forward to posting them online, sharing them with you and to reading your feedback.
Cheers!
Peter, I’ve added some basic EXIF data to the photos. Let me know if you’re after any other info, I’m happy to share
Oh, and if the avatar the system has chosen for you offends you, you can choose your own at http://en.gravatar.com/
Hi Gavin;
The exif data you post now is perfect for learning. Thanks. Just saw your slideshow of Bhutan and the images you created there was awesome. I hope to be able to go there one day. Thanks for all the info and great pictures. Thumbs up….
