Matt Brandon, aka The Digital Trekker, is on holiday at the moment, enjoying the charms on offer in the English Cotswolds. Matt currently lives in Malaysia so I hope he packed a sweater. And an umbrella.
He’s graciously asked me to contribute a guest post on his blog so if you follow this link you will find me revealing some of the contents of my secret notebook, a book into which I copy found quotes, meaningful song lyrics and snippets of overheard conversations.
I must apologise for stealing Tony Blair’s quote but I also wanted to mention the historic events unfolding in America tonight. I have been watching the results of the American election come in this morning and seen Barack Obama fulfil his goal of becoming President Elect. I was touched by the gracious speech given by John McCain in defeat and pleased for my American friends who have been keen to see a change in the White House. Congratulations!
I hadn’t got round to the BBC News website yet, this morning, so I have just learnt the news of the new president from you.
Maybe you should have a news section on your site, then I won’t have to go anywhere else at all for my morning’s entertainment!
I’ll see what I can do Masher.
Glad to be of service.
This news service would be good….could you beam it directly to my brain to avoid the like of this morning’s first debate with Mrs. LDNP.
As the radio 4 weather forecast woke us up she asked if Obama had won. “I don’t know,” I replied, “Surprisingly, no-one has beamed the information to my brain while I was asleep.”
Yep, brain-beaming will all be part of the service.
Probably.
Enjoyed the post Gavin and some inspirational words within it that I needed to hear myself at the moment. I’m imaging you’ll have probably beaten me to this one but if you like inspirational words you can’t go far wrong by reading The Dhamapadda.
If you already have, then my next best suggestion would be The Art of Peace by Morihei Ueshiba. He was the founder of aikido so some of the quotes are related to that, but also there are many which equally apply to life itself. http://omlc.ogi.edu/aikido/talk/osensei/artofpeace/ is a set of links to each of the quotes. Avery wise man indeed.
Ian, spooky!
I’m currently working on a project that involves the Dhammapada. Watch this space!
I certainly shall, well that and my rss feed from the psychic hotline
