Mitchell Kanashkevich stops for tea

Mitchell Kanashkevich has found a gorgeous tea-shack in Kollam, Kerala and photographed it and its patrons beautifully.

Lovely compositions, honey-coloured light and effervescent colours all combine to make some beautifully evocative photographs. My favourite photos are almost inevitably ones that give me a strong desire to visit the place shown in the photo. When I read Mitchell’s account of the Kollam tea-shack and saw his images I immediately started packing.

Mitchell has been able to convey the atmosphere of this little tea-shack really well. I can imagine joining the guys he’s photographed for a Sunday morning chai and a gossip over the newspaper. But as I can’t head off to Kerala at the drop of a hat I’m just going to have to open up the spice jars and get my own chai. For now.

Read more about Mitchell’s tea-shack and swoon at his photos on his blog.
