“Picture from my mind” Art Exhibition in aid of the Bangkok Refugee Centre

Bangkok’s Moddy restaurant is situated in a quiet street near Ari BTS. If you were walking up Ari Soi 4 at the weekend you would have doubtless been intrigued by the lights coming from a two-storey building, a little beacon in the gloom.

Saturday saw the final night of the “Picture from my Mind” art exhibition, a show featuring the work of refugees and asylum seekers from over forty countries. Many of the paintings on show were made by children and all of the art was created by people who have fled their homeland in search of a better life. Many have fled in fear for their lives and the art reflects their experiences.

The paintings were auctioned and the proceeds will support the Bangkok Refugee Centre.

The last one I find particularly powerful….I find myself looking through your eyes over the shoulder of a mother(?) and child at an interpretation of a disturbing war scene that someone else needed to capture on canvas.

This one will stay with me for a while I think.
