Canon Professional Network: Review of 24-70mm f/2.8 L lens

I’m currently in the UK, my first opportunity to catch up with family and friends for almost a year. It’s great to see familiar faces and I’m enjoying the opportunity to reflect on my first year living as an expat in Bangkok. It’s been a productive year, a largely successful year and with many more exciting projects in the pipeline it looks like the next twelve months will be productive too.

I have more images from Nepal to share with you and hope to get to those in short order but I hope you’ll excuse me if I take a few days off in order to re-acquaint myself with my roots.

In the meantime, you might enjoy this article on the Canon Professional Network. The nice people at CPN asked me about the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L lens and how it fits into the work of a Travel Photographer. This is the first in a series of articles about photographers’ favourite or “go to” lenses.

Nice article and wonderful images to go along with it. The portrait of you makes you look more like an Army General than the easy going photographer you are. Did Matt take that?

    Cheers!

Aye, cheers for that Gavin, and a timely piece. I’m currently in 3 minds about whether to go for the 24-70 or the 24-105 and although at the moment i’m tending to favour the 24-70, if I upgrade the 40d to a 5dmk2 which i’m planning to do some time in the year, then the wide-end of the 17-40 might be a better bet. Ahh the joys of geekdom, lol. Enjoyed the article though and if you’re back in blighty and heading upwards at any time, don’t hesitate to give me a ring or mail. I’ve got some cigars and a fine bottle of Romanian Palinka currently in need of a worthy event! Ian
