The free desktop wallpaper for October comes from Wangdichholing Dzong in Bhutan. By the time this appears our group will be in Jakar, enjoying the annual festivals (tsechus) and photographing the enchanting temples (dzongs). We’ll be hoping to find opportunities like this, where a novice monk invited me to see the classrooms on the upper floors of the dzong and then proceeded to sit himself down, right by the window, placing himself in the perfect position to catch the natural light.
The more observant of you will have noticed that this wallpaper appeared in 2008 but I’ve posted it again as it has benefited (I hope) from being re-processed. I prefer the colours in this version, which are slightly more subdued but probably more true to life.
Beautiful image.
Wonderful photo. Very nicely exposed picture. Did you use photoshop to get the background so dark??
Stunning picture!
Incredible shot…
Thanks. No Photoshop Kumar, the background was already very dark and the monk sat in just the right place to catch the light. I have used Lightroom though and will have increased the “Blacks” to darken the shadow areas.
Still have this one on my desktop! Thanks.
