The summer classes of the Bangkok Photo School have reached a conclusion now and, as always, I feel like it’s been an opportunity to meet new friends as well as to pass on some of my skills and experience to eager photographers. We had a great new venue at the Neilson Hays Library and classes were divided with a technical classroom session in the morning followed by a practical field-trip in the afternoon and evening.

The Photo School concept has been very successful in Bangkok and I’m delighted with the reception that it’s received and with its popularity. Classes sell out very quickly and there’s a great demand for more. Consequently, we’re expanding and taking on more teachers to allow the school to keep offering classes when I am unavailable.
I’m also in the process of constructing a new product, which I like to call a “Photo School in a Box”. A City Photo School™ package will contain everything that a photographer would need to establish, promote and run a photography school. From start to finish, the photo school package will take all the proven aspects of the Bangkok Photo School and make them available to people in other cities who would like to set up something similar.
A City Photo School™ package will include:
For photographers looking to diversify and to create an additional source of income whilst expanding their local client and social network, a photography school is the perfect solution. The Bangkok Photo School serves as a great template for running a successful school and we’re making the process incredibly straightforward. If you are interested in establishing a City Photo School™ in your local area, drop me an e-mail now and I’ll add your name to the mailing list. Rights to operate a City Photo School™ will be exclusive and allocated on a city-by-city basis.
Photography courses are now taking place at the Cairo Photo School, the first such franchise. Marco Ryan, the Chief Executive of the Cairo Photo Group explained “We are delighted to be the first customer of this innovative product. This is the next best thing to having Gavin come and live in Cairo and run the school himself! This product allows us to create compelling and differentiated offers into the expanding Egyptian photography market. The quality of the content, template and the support we have received from Gavin have more than covered the franchise cost.”
The Bangkok Photo School has proven to be a successful model and I am looking forward to the day when I can begin accepting invitations to appear as a Guest Tutor at photo schools around the world.
wow, impressive work Mr.Gavin
Exciting times for you! Alas, you can’t package your personality, skill and teaching style, which would be a large part of the draw for your school. Hope you’re selective as you establish franchises…
Best of luck with your latest venture, Gavin. I’m sure it’ll be a great success.
