Photographer’s Guide to Bangkok: Hualamphong Station

Getting there: Take the MRT underground service to the terminal Hualamphong station, enter the main station concourse at ground level
Services: Luggage storage, restaurants, cafes, food court, shower room

Advice for photographers: The large, airy concourse provides a colourful location for photography and there will be plenty of life here at all times of day as passengers wait patiently for their trains. The platforms can be accessed without a ticket and there are opportunities for candid photographs.

Best time: At dusk, when the impressive facade is floodlit, there are opportunities for long-exposure shots revealing light trails from passing traffic. Remember your tripod and remote release! Inside the station, the artificial lights that illuminate the platforms after dark can provide interesting effects and more opportunities for long exposures.
