It’s a Processing, Uploading and Admin weekend here at Gough Towers and whilst those big ol’ files are making their way to the Photoshelter servers and the upload clock ticks slowly around, I’m taking a quick look at some of the images that remain unprocessed from trips earlier in the year. This one comes from one of my favourite locations in Nepal. The bench beside the wall in Durbar Square in Patan offers the perfect venue for local men to catch up with the town gossip. It also offers visiting photographers a ready-made composition… so thoughtful.

Fantastic. So many stories in just one image.
I visited Nepal with Jeffrey and David last year, and this image SO reminds me. I love the hats. Makes me want to go back.
Knowing you – as I feel I do, through your blog – I’m sure you will have asked for their permission to take this great photo.
Me? Well I’d have been too scared/embarrassed to do so.
And that’s why you’re a proper photographer and I’m just a bloke with a camera.
It was more of a nod towards my camera combined with raised eyebrows and my “grinning like an idiot” look from across the street but, yes, they knew I was taking photos.
I think men who sit here regularly are used to it as it’s a popular tourist trap so lenses are often pointed in that direction. Sadly, I noticed very few visitors asking the men if it was OK.
