My Partners

Although the photographic work that I do is typically a solitary pursuit, it would be impossible for me to run a successful photography business in the modern world without strong and reliable support from dependable business associates.

I choose business partners carefully but can recommend the ones that appear here. They provide a variety of products and services to the professional (and amateur) photographer but are defined by their common attributes of reliability and creativity.

My Portfolio

Photoshelter gives me an online archive of my high-resolution files - the very best insurance for my valuable imags. Photoshelter provides me with the functionality to deliver press-ready images to my clients without having to e-mail hefty files.

My web site

Perhaps more frequently than any other, this is the question I'm asked: "Who designed your web site"? Well, the answer is that although I did some work on it myself, it looks the way it does because I invested in one of Graph Paper Press's excellent WordPress themes. The one that this web site is built on is called "Widescreen" but there are many others and many integrate with Photoshelter.

Technical training

I'm a photographer, first and foremost, not a computer operator. However, digital photography requires me to perform my own post-production and so learning how to use applications like Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop has been an essential part of my business. Lynda.com has arguably the widest range of online tutorials and it seems that every piece of software that a photographer might need is covered on the Lynda web site.

Photoshop

Talking of training, David Nightingale, photographer and creator of the always engaging Chromasia web site, offers a number of Photoshop tutorials. David's portraits are always gorgeous and it is well worth taking advantage of the generosity that prompted him to compile and release tutorials that follow his Photoshop post-production techniques.
Craft & Vision e-books

Inspiration

Perhaps most importantly, here are a series of e-books that will fire your enthusiasm and supply you with a host of new ideas to lift your photography to new heights. The Craft & Vision series brings you first-class photography education from working professionals. Each title is available as an electronic download or as an iPad application. Best of all, every title is priced at a bargain price of just $5. Where else would you find such great images for the price of a Latte?

Camera Gear

When it comes to buying gear, there really shouldn't be any shortcuts. Hardware suppliers must be reliable, reasonably priced, responsive and knowledgeable. Throughout my travels, B&H Photo have proved to be all of these. I can get gear shipped to pretty much anywhere in the world and B&H will help me out of a tight spot when necessary. I haven't found a consistently more competitively priced supplier and know that B&H prices will be hard to beat.

I hope that you will find these resources useful. All are familiar to me and have proved their worth to my business by delivering constantly reliable service with exceptional value.
